The St. Louis Blues will be short-handed for their game Monday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Robert Thomas was injured in the team’s loss Saturday to the Detroit Red Wings. In addition, Jake Neighbours was also injured late in the game. Neither will play Monday.
Thomas and Neighbours Out

It is unclear when Thomas sustained his injury, which has been only been labeled as an “upper-body” injury. Thomas took a shift early in the third period, but did not return the ice once he returned to the bench. Neighbours blocked a shot late in the game. His injury occurred so late, it was unclear if he was injured, something the Blues confirmed Monday at practice.
Both forwards were having strong games. Neighbours had scored twice, Thomas had recorded two assists, and the team was leading, 4-0. However, the Red Wings rallied to win the game, 6-4. Neighbours’ Thomas’s injury only added injury to insult.
Next Man Up
Head coach Jim Montgomery will need to shuffle the lines. Alexandre Texier will rejoin the lineup. Furthermore, Alexey Toropchenko, who has been injured and has not played since the Blues’ opener, will return to the lineup.
Should Thomas and/or Neighbours miss significant time, the situation becomes complicated. Dalibor Dvorsky could be called up to in that scenario. Furthermore, the Blues could also consider calling up Justin Carbonneau, who stood out during the pre-season.
After Monday’s game. the Blues get right back on the horse Tuesday at home. It will be interesting to see what updates, if any, are available by then.
