There are interviews and visits.
As of late Thursday at least, the Islanders’ search for a GM (and possibly President of Hockey Operations) appeared to be like this: Second interviews and “narrowing” decision with Marc Bergevin and Mathieu Darche, while now-officially-deposed Leafs president Brendan Shanahan will also be spoken to.
What does a president do and why bother with one, you ask? It’s a question with merit.

Hearing #Isles are narrowing in on a GM before sitting down with Brendan Shanahan.
Not sure that Shanahan would take a job where his GM was picked ahead of him.

If John Collins tells Shanahan that #Isles had this detailed process for weeks with multiple interviews and ownership really likes, let’s say Darche (my pick fwiw) or ok, Bergevin, I don’t see it as a dealbreaker for Brendan. He respects both. Could work with either. Hiring one…
