The Vegas Golden Knights are taking care of business-as-usual matters today, still in the early days of free agency 2025. Their restricted free agent defenceman Kaedan Korczak signs a contract extension to stay with the club for four-more years. He still has a year remaining on his previous deal, so was only eligible to sign an extension yesterday. Therefore, he will not become a free agent until the summer of 2030. Let’s check out all the details behind the signing.

RFA Defenceman Kaedan Korczak Re-Signs in Vegas for Four Additional Years
Korczak was already signed for the upcoming 2025-26 season, where he is set to earn $825K. This new deal will see him earn an average annual value of $3.25 million, or a nice pay increase. The deal is boosted with a $2 million signing bonus for Korczak.
The Yorkton, Saskatchewan product has been trending to become an NHL regular. This contract is a sign the 6’3″ defenceman is being given the nod to take on the added responsibility. At 24 years of age, he still only has 77 games of NHL experience under his belt. However, when not with the big club, he’s been putting his work on the farm, with the Silver Knights of Henderson.
This most recent NHL campaign saw him hit a career high with 40 NHL games played. He tallied ten points, while playing just over 15-minute-a-game. But now with the snazzy paycheque, he’s almost guaranteed to become a full-time NHLer.
This is the type of move that Vegas prioritized after the Alex Pietrangelo news. It was just announced he is unlikely to play in 2025-26, and not looking good beyond that either. Vegas does have a host of other defencemen under contract for 2025-26, but given Korczak’s work through his personal development, he is more than deserving of this deal. Look for the gritty, right-shot d-man to step up in 2025-26, and show Vegas made the right decision.
