NHL Predictions

St. Louis Blues vs. Utah Mammoth

Time: 8:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (EDT)

How to Watch:FanDuel Sports Network Midwest, Utah16

The Up and Down Blues

The Blues lost their last game to the Los Angeles Kings, 2-1 in overtime. A game that was kept close thanks to Jordan Binnington. Without him, the Blues could’ve easily found themselves down three or four goals. It has been an up and down start for St. Louis to start the season. They’ve found themselves losing some games by five goals, and other games they’ve dominated all parts of the ice.

Head coach Jim Montgomery has expressed his frustration with the team not starting on time. And he’s not been afraid to limit players ice time if he thinks it’s not their night. Jimmy Snuggerud only played 9:48 against Los Angeles for example. The Blues will be trying to get a bounce back win against a good Utah team, and it will be interesting to see what Jim Montgomery does with certain players.

Playing a full 60 minutes will determine if the Blues skate away with a win. They won’t be able to rely on goaltending every game to keep it close, and need to find their rhythm while the season it still early.

Mammoth Momentum

The Utah Mammoth have started off hot. Entering this game at 5-2-0 and on a four-game winning streak, their pieces are clicking and show no signs of slowing down. Nick Schmaltz leads the team with 10 points, including four goals. All but five of their 21 skaters have recorded at least a point, too.

Utah is in their second season as a franchise, and theres already been an expressed identity of momentum that’s built on strength and resilience. While the team looks good on paper so far, there are still some visible cracks in the foundation. Early power play percentage for Utah is only at 10%, and their penalty kill is at 73%. Yet, they keep finding ways to win. Offensive firepower has been a factor, as they’ve scored six goals in multiple games. They’ve also shown that they can manage the close games, as they beat the Colorado Avalanche in overtime on Tuesday, 4-3.

Their biggest piece against St. Louis? Their ability to convert when it matters. Scoring enough to win by two or escaping with a one goal win, Utah has shown they know how to adapt and to finish strong in games.

NHL Predictions for the Blues vs. Mammoth

Expect the Blues to come out with urgency after their 2-1 overtime loss to the Kings. The Mammoth will enter the game with confidence and momentum after another overtime victory, which continues what has been a strong start to their 2025-26 season. Expect them to try and dictate the tempo of the game while St. Louis tries to counter with physicality and strong defensive structure to hold them down. We expect an entertaining game, with St. Louis showing strong resilience against a good Utah team.

Prediction: Blues win, 4-3.

Prop Bets of the Night

We close out our predictions with some prop bets of the night. Sports books have the over/under for this game at 5.5, and we’re going with the over.

For individual props, we’re taking Jimmy Snuggerud to score at least one goal for St. Louis, and Clayton Keller to record at least one point for Utah.
