“You might think (Connor) Brown is a rugged, bottom-six winger, but that’s not the case. He plays with some pace and is more of a rush player than anything else. Brown’s top skating speed ranked in the 66th percentile this past season, and he ranked in the 85th percentile in speed bursts over 20 mph. The Devils were a noticeably slower team last season, especially in the bottom of their lineup, so that will improve with Brown and (Evgeny) Dadonov.” [Devils on the Rush ($)]

A new CBA provision:
Sources say a new provision in the CBA will allow each #NHL team to place one 19-year-old CHL player in the #AHL per season.
One per organization per season and 18-year-olds are ineligible.
Begins in 2026-27 season.

Future of the draft:
Apparently there are reports about the future of the NHL draft
There is a vote right now, not yet completed.
But from what I’m canvassing — unless there is a wild swing in the few remaining to be submitted — the vote will be to stay with the de-centralized format.

“So how do others feel about (the CBA extension) and its terms? We gauged the opinions of 10 players around the league, with some requesting anonymity in exchange for full candor. Several common observations emerged, from noteworthy wins to lingering concerns over concessions. Early reviews were on the positive side, though not everyone was wholly pleased with the final document, which has yet to be publicly released. But even those with dissenting opinions agreed on one thing: The path here could’ve been far more contentious.” [The Athletic ($)]
