Week 10 of the NFL season is here, and the Jets and Browns, winners of a combined three games, get ready to head to head in a game that only a maniac would subject themselves to. The Jets, having parted ways with Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams, Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams since their regime change, may not have “torn it all down”, but they’ve done enough to lock up a top three pick in April.
The absence of Williams in the middle of the defense will do more to help the Browns running game than anything Cleveland could have done themselves, and their struggling offense will likely welcome the departure of Sauce Gardner as well. Here are the key matchups on the off chance you’re interested.
OT’s Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou vs DE Myles Garrett: It won’t be much of a stretch to say this is where the game will be decided. As good as Fashanu and Membou have been this season, Myles Garrett is still Myles Garrett. If we see Justin Fields hold on the football for as long as he has for much of this season, Garrett may find himself replicating last week’s five sack performance that he posted against New England.
DT Jowon Briggs vs OG Joel Bitonio: Briggs, a former Brown, has been very impressive for the Jets thus far in 2025. But now, he may see starter reps with Quinnen Williams gone, and the inexperienced youngster will likely line up across from Bitonio, one of the better guards in the NFL over the course of his career. Look for Cleveland to have a fair amount of success running Quinshon Judkins behind Bitonio.
LB Jamien Sherwood vs RB Quinshon Judkins: Judkins is a young back with plenty of giddy-up who should have running room up front. It’s going to be in the second level, where Sherwood resides, that the Jets defense will have to get some stops.
CB Brandon Stephens vs WR Jerry Jeudy: This will be the first game Stephens plays as the official number one corner in Aaron Glenn’s defense. The fact that a struggling Dillon Gabriel will be under center should go a long way in making life easier for Stephens, but there won’t be many Sundays like this.
S Isaiah Oliver vs TE’s David Njoku and Harold Fannin: Oliver will likely see significantly more reps with Andre Cisco officially out for the season, and things haven’t gone well for him in coverage this year. According to the folks at PFF, Oliver has been targeted ten times, allowing 9 receptions. Njoku and Fannin are an underrated tandem at this point in time with Fannin being a rookie, but the first-year player has made some big plays thus far and could see more on Sunday.
CB Jarvis Brownlee vs WR Malachi Corley: Both these team’s stink, and there won’t be anything of importance on the line this Sunday. With that in mind, coaches will often take advantage of a player who is facing their old employer, knowing that they may have a bit more juice in the moment. Think Elijah Moore and the Bills earlier in the season. Knowing Corley would like to show the Jets they were wrong to cut him, the Browns may try to force feed him the ball to let him get going.
Prediction:
Browns: 13
Jets: 9
