Full contract details for all of the 15 undrafted free agents signed by the Jets this year are now available on OverTheCap.com, so we can now take a look at who got the biggest deals and what this tells us about their hopes of making the final roster.
Before we start, you might be wondering whether receiving the highest guarantees is an indication that you’re likely to make the team. Luckily, we investigated this last year and reached a strong conclusion: Usually.
The fact that the three players with the highest guarantees last year were Eric Watts, Braiden McGregor and Jarius Monroe, all of whom saw in-season action in multiple games, reinforces this.
So, how about this year’s group? We will sort them by total guaranteed money with the size of their signing bonus in parentheses. The non-signing bonuses guarantees are simply guaranteed salary in each case. The base salary in each case is the minimum, which for rookies is currently $840K in 2025.
Leander Wiegand $249K ($15K)
Payton Page $201.5K ($11.5K)
Ja’Markis Weston $200K ($15K)
Gus Hartwig $190K ($10K)
Quintin Skinner $185K ($10K)
Jordan Clark $170K ($20K)
Donovan Edwards $170K ($20K)
Dean Clark $160K ($20K)
Jamaal Pritchett $107.5K ($7.5K)
Fatorma Mulbah $100K ($7.5K)
Aaron Smith $75K ($7.5K)
Dymere Miller $75K (no signing bonus)
Jared Bartlett $72.5K (no signing bonus)
Caden Davis $35K ($10K)
Brady Cook $30K ($5K)
The Jets did, of course, sign two more undrafted rookies since the original 15 were announced (Punter Kai Kroeger and Edge Michael Fletcher) but it looks like neither received any guarantees, as would often be the case with tryout signings.
Analysis
The first thing to point out is that Wiegand is an international player pathway player, which means he won’t count towards the practice squad limit if they Jets opt to put him on the practice squad with an IPPP designation, which prevents him from being eligible to be activated during the season. Alternatively, they can give him a normal practice squad spot (or even a spot on the 53) but then he will count towards the limit. Either way, the large guarantee makes it clear they plan to keep him around for at least a year.
Otherwise, the list is interesting because the highest profile undrafted free agents are, for the most part, receiving the lowest guarantees. Cook, Edwards and Pritchett were the only three undrafted free agents signed by the Jets who weren’t unranked in ESPN’s draft coverage, but all fall outside the top six.
Look for Page, Weston and Hartwig to be developmental projects who remain on the practice squad for most of next season. Skinner’s high number might indicate he’s the receiver the Jets are highest on out of the three they added.
