The Jets need to make several cuts to be able to sign all the UDFAs they’ve been linked with but stay under the 90-man roster limit. Today, they made the first such move:
We’ve released DE John Daka.

Daka, who signed a futures deal in January, is an edge rusher whose roster chances took a hit when they signed Carl Lawson and Vinny Curry in the offseason.
If the timing seems unusual, being a few days before the team’s rookie camp and earlier than the other required cuts, it’s possible that Daka might have interest from some other teams so the Jets are letting him go earlier as a courtesy to him.
