The Jets have claimed three players:
In addition, Jarrick Bernard-Converse was claimed by the Browns. Everyone else from yesterday’s cuts cleared waivers and is eligible to go onto the practice squad.
Pole is an undrafted rookie (the only one currently on the 53-man roster) but the Jets obviously like him as a potential depth option with upside. The former basketball player impressed the Chiefs in preseason where he didn’t give up a pressure in 46 snaps. Chuks Okorafor and Max Mitchell’s spots are now in jeopardy.
Woods is a terrific athlete but there was a bit of a logjam at the tight end position for the Colts. This move puts Jeremy Ruckert and Stone Smartt on notice, assuming Andrew Beck is safe as the main fullback. The 26-year old is a former day two pick who had 25 catches as a rookie but missed the past two seasons.
Jones, who is 25, was undrafted in 2023. He doesn’t have a ton of experience but has at least played 161 snaps and started two games, recording 19 tackles. The three backup linebackers on the current roster have played three regular season defensive snaps between them. This puts Zaire Barnes and Kiko Mauigoa’s roster spots at risk. He ran 4.61 at the combine.
Stick around: We will report on the formation of the practice squad and any additional moves made today as they are announced…
