The Jets made a forward-thinking move:
We’ve signed OL Conor McDermott to a one-year contract extension.

This may surprise some Jets fans, who see McDermott as a substandard reserve, but the Jets clearly regard him as a reliable presence in the locker room and someone who can fill it at tackle or guard in an emergency like Brent Qvale before him.
Interestingly, McDermott has been Sam Darnold’s roommate over the past few years and is apparently regarded as his best friend on the team. Darnold has, of course, been the subject of much speculation about his own future with the Jets with the Jets currently in line to receive the first pick in the 2021 draft.
