The New York Jets and Garrett Wilson potential trade saga has taken another turn.
In Week 17, the Jets (4-12) were blown out by the Buffalo Bills (13-3) in a 40-14 final. The starting offense for New York did next to nothing and did not score.
Wilson eventually did have a touchdown once Tyrod Taylor replaced Aaron Rodgers at quarterback when some starters were pulled from the game. Wilson might not care all that much.
Prior to the blowout defeat, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that there could be some weight to rumors that Wilson might want to be traded this offseason… and Rodgers might have something to do with it.
Per Rap Sheet, Wilson could ask to be moved if Rodgers ends up returning to New York for the 2025 season:
The status of the 41-year-old QB is very much in the air. One week it sounds like a return is possible, the next it seems far fetched.
Rapoport did not say Wilson has yet to formally ask for a trade at this time. However, he did note that the Jets have received calls about Wilson from other teams.
“While Wilson will not publicly say it, those who know him well believe he’s been frustrated at the lack of looks from Rodgers while wondering what else he can do to fix the relationship,” Rapoport said.
