Ravens, Panthers Could Intervene in Possible Jets Reunion

Before the 2025 regular season, the New York Jets could consider a possible reunion with former safety Jamal Adams. According to several sources, the veteran is open to returning back to his first old team to do things “the right way” after a messy divorce in 2020. Originally selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, the former LSU product is looking to repair the relationship with the organization, as he might not have any prime playing time left in the next two seasons. It’s no secret he’s wanting to take this route since there aren’t any teams that are expressing interest in Adams, even though he’s been available on the market since January of this year.

Adams isn’t the same player he once was, ever since he left the Jets and tried to establish a new winning scenery with the Seattle Seahawks. However, he did have a good first year with the Seahawks are notching his third Pro Bowl and the first one to be a tandem with fellow former safety Quandre Diggs. The rest of the campaign was bleak as he couldn’t stay healthy for the following two seasons despite signing a contract extension consisting of four years and $72 million. Now, Adams is looking to be a veteran for other players who are looking to learn from him, so this could signal that his playing days are almost over.

The safety does not want to leave the league with regrets, but these two teams could give Adams one more chance in the NFL and possibly revive his career.

Possible Replacement for Washington

The Baltimore Ravens are trying to change the landscape of their pass secondary after enduring one of the worst seasons. Former Brandon Stephens and Marcus Williams couldn’t hold up their own end of the bargain, so the Ravens obviously didn’t bring back either of them. 2025 draft pick Malaki Starks brings some positive excitement, but he might not be ready for full-time duties. The Ravens will need the depth either way since Starks won’t single-handedly carry this pass secondary in his first year after the brutal injury of Ar’Darius Washington.

Meanwhile, the Ravens still have Marlon Humphrey, who is the oldest cornerback on this unit, so he could find some type of relationship with Adams. The veteran safety doesn’t need to play all of the snaps, but enough to help and make an impact in certain situations. Kyle Hamilton is turning into one of the best safeties in the league, and even with being that, he can’t be god to lead this unit. Adams could bring temporary life to help the Ravens push for a possible Super Bowl finally.

Guiding Trevon Moehrig

However, the Carolina Panthers have finally made some improvements to their defense. One of them is the pass secondary, since they were at their worst last season in numbers. Jaycee Horn and Michael Jackson are on lock on corners, but they could use some more stability for Trevon Moehrig after signing him this offseason. Adams is past his prime, but he’s a capable upgrade over Nick Scott, whom he could guide as well and rejuvenate the Panthers to make some plays in the aerial attack.
