New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson is not at voluntary workouts this week.
He continues to be away from the team since his name has been in trade rumors since the season ended. The expectation is that he’ll be traded at some point during the offseason but no deal has been agreed to yet.
Wilson was granted permission to speak to other teams about a trade in February. He hasn’t lived up to expectations and it’s why both sides are looking for a fresh start.
Wilson was picked second overall in the 2021 NFL Draft and played in 13 games that season, finishing with 2,334 yards through the air, nine touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
It wasn’t the rookie season that Jets fans were hoping for but it was only his first year. Well, things didn’t get better in his second season after he played in nine games and compiled 1,688 yards through the air, six touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
He then had to start this past season even though he was supposed to be Aaron Rodgers’ backup. It didn’t go according to plan and he’s now on the trade block.
Let’s see if a move is made by the time of the 2024 NFL Draft next week.
