Jets take a cornerback!
The New York Jets have selected CB Azareye’h Thomas out of Florida State with the 73rd overall pick in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Azareye’h Thomas is a big, 6’ 2”, 197 pound cornerback.
Thomas does not have explosive speed. He ran a 4.58 40 yard dash. However, he is a long, rangy, physical press man cornerback who projects as an eventual starter in the NFL. He isn’t great in run defense, but he has the size to improve on that. The lack of speed is a concern, and it’s possible the Jets will try him out at safety given the two outside cornerback positions seem to be currently spoken for with Sauce Gardner and Brandon Stephens. If they don’t view Thomas as a safety, he probably slots in as a backup cornerback to start his career.
The Jets remaining picks in the 2025 NFL draft are as follows:
Fourth Round: Pick #110
Fifth Round: Pick #145
Fifth Round: Pick #162
Sixth Round: Pick #186
Sixth Round: Pick #207
