Good morning Gang Green Nation! Veterans report to New York Jets training camp tomorrow. There are just 12 practices before the first preseason game against the Green Bay Packers on August 9. Then there are just five more practices and two more preseason games before final cuts. Things move very fast this time of year, and there is only a brief opportunity for guys looking to fight their way onto the roster to make an impression. A player like Aaron Smith, an undrafted free agent linebacker signed by the Jets this offseason, whom the Jets placed on the non-football injury list recently, is immediately behind the eight ball. Every day a guy misses practice this time of year is a lost opportunity to make an impression. Spend too many days off the field and opportunity passes you by. It’s a ruthless tyranny of time. Hopefully Smith heals quickly and gets his shot at making the team.
