After trading Zach Wilson earlier this week, the New York Jets had a vacant seat in their QBs room heading into the NFL Draft. They filled it in the fifth round – with a beloved former college star no less.
With the 171st pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Jets selected quarterback Jordan Travis out of Florida State. Travis went 11-0 as a starter with the Seminoles in 2023 before suffering a brutal, season-ending leg injury.
Those 11 games from Travis were downright incredible though. He completed 64.1-percent of his passes for 2,734 yards and 20 touchdowns with just two interceptions plus seven more touchdowns on the ground.
In four years with the Seminoles, Travis threw for over 8,600 yards and 65 touchdowns while adding 31 more on the ground. Travis is Florida State’s all-time leader in touchdowns responsible for and total yards of offense.
Now he joins a New York Jets team that might actually be a great place for him despite the team’s poor reputation for developing quarterbacks. With Aaron Rodgers as QB1 and veteran Tyrod Taylor as QB2, Travis can sit and learn behind two very experienced hands all while getting back into top shape.
Many fans are already dubbing Travis as the “heir-apparent” to Rodgers in New York.
With Rodgers expected to stay with the team for another year or two, they could put him in a position similar to what the Packers did with Jordan Love a few years ago.
Was this a good pick by the Jets?
