So, the Aaron Rodgers trade is reportedly a done deal, but don’t go ordering any No. 12 jerseys, Jets fans.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Rodgers will not be wearing his customary number with Gang Green. Instead, he’ll go back to No. 8, which he wore during his days at Cal in the early 2000s.
“Although Hall-of-Fame QB Joe Namath gave Aaron Rodgers his blessing to wear No. 12, the new Jets‘ QB is expected to wear No. 8 — the number he wore in college at Cal,” Schefter tweeted.

After weeks of on-and-off negotiations, the Packers and Jets settled on a suitable package for Rodgers.
It includes a first-round pick swap for 2023 (Green Bay moves up to No. 13 overall and the Jets fall to 15th), and one of New York’s 2023 second-rounders (pick No. 42), as well as a conditional 2024 second-rounder that will become a first-rounder if Rodgers plays 65% of snaps this season or more.
The Jets also sent the Packers a sixth-round pick this year and got back a fifth-rounder in return.
