Tinkering with the practice squad ahead of their MetLife season opener in under a week, the Jets have brought back running back Lawrance Toafili along with former journeyman linebacker Mykal Walker.
When it comes to Toafili, there’s clearly something the Jets like about his game. He was invited to the team’s rookie minicamp as a tryout player before being let go and brought back a few weeks ago. He impressed in preseason action and now returns to the practice squad.
A very good pass catcher out of the backfield, Toafili, on the active roster or not, gives the Jets yet another multi-dimensional back.
Williams, a former fourth-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2020, has played in 74 career games (25 starts) and amassed 241 tackles as a pro.
