The Jets go into the locker room trailing the Cardinals 24 – 6.
The first half of the New York Jets week 10 game against the Arizona Cardinals is in the books, and the Jets are trailing the Cardinals by 18 points at 24 – 6.
The Jets opened the game on defense and got off to a rough start. Just a handful of plays from scrimmage into the game, James Conner took a short screen pass and ran it 45 yards down the sideline to the half yard line. Two plays later Conner ran it into the end zone for a touchdown and a quick 7 – 0 Cardinals lead just three minutes into the game.
The Jets answered with a methodical drive deep into Cardinals territory before they stalled inside the Cardinals 10 yard line. The Jets had to settle for a short field goal and a 7 – 3 deficit midway through the first quarter.
The Cardinals came right back, marching down the field with big play after big play against only token Jets resistance. After a D.J. Reed pass interference call in the end zone, Kyler Murray waltzed into the end zone with no Jets player close to him and the Cardinals took an early 14 – 3 lead. The Jets defense looked hopelessly outmatched against the Cardinals offense early on.
The second quarter opened with the Jets driving into Cardinals territory. The drive bogged down and the Jets settled for a 45 yard field goal and an eight point deficit early in the second quarter.
The Cardinals embarked on yet another scoring drive, ending in Marvin Harrison Jr. beating J.D. Reed in the end zone for a touchdown and a 21 – 6 Cardinals lead. At this point each team had scored every time they got the ball, but the Cardinals were scoring touchdowns and the Jets were scoring field goals, leading to a blowout brewing in Glendale.
The Jets went three and out on their next possession and punted, the first punt in the game for either team. The Cardinals then closed out the half with a field goal as time expired.
The Jets went into the locker room trailing the Cardinals by 18 points at 24 – 6. Absent a huge Jets turnaround, the second half threatens to be mostly extended garbage time.
