Jets’ updated AFC East odds following schedule release

May 28, 2025 by The Gang Green

The Jets’ 2025 schedule has been released, and there are plenty of testing clashes for the Gang Green outside of their divisional obligations. An opening day clash with the Pittsburgh Steelers will certainly test the MetLife Stadium outfit’s resolve, as well as midseason trips to face both the Cincinnati Bengals and the Baltimore Ravens, two teams that have genuine Lombardi aspirations.

But for the Jets and anyone else in the league, for that matter, it will be a difficult task to rip the title away from the Philadelphia Eagles. The Birds romped to Super Bowl glory last season with a 40-22 ransacking of the history-seeking Kansas City Chiefs, and online NFL betting providers make them the teams to beat in 2025 as well. The latest NFL betting at Bovada odds make the reigning champions a +650 favorite to retain the Lombardi, but for the Jets, it’s a different matter entirely.

The Gang Green is currently priced at a whopping +20000 to lift the famous old trophy in Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco next February, the fifth-longest odds of anybody in the entire league. That pricing basically makes them a no-hope, but what are their divisional chances? Let’s find out where the teams stand.

Bills

The Buffalo Bills enter the 2025 season with a clear target on their backs after romping to a fifth straight AFC East title last term. They amassed a 13-4 record throughout the 2024 campaign, prompting the bookies to install them as a huge -260 betting favorite to win the division once again next season. Unfortunately for the Highmark outfit, their resulting playoff campaign ended in a familiar fate with a defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs in the Conference Championship, but they will be gunning to finally reach the Big Game after more than three decades away next term.

Throughout the offseason, the Bills made savvy moves to bolster the defensive side of the ball. The draft saw them snag explosive cornerback Maxwell Hairston with their first-round pick, adding more firepower to a defense already feared by opposition quarterbacks. Further defensive additions were made in the form of not one but two defensive tackles, namely T. J. Sanders and Deone Walker, and it’s clear that Sean McDermott feels that he knows where his weakness is.

But no matter the acquisitions, superstar quarterback Josh Allen remains the star of the show. He dragged Buffalo kicking and screaming to the AFC Championship game last term, securing MVP honors for the first time in his career in the process. With the former University of Wyoming man under center, anything is possible, and winning the division is the bare minimum for his side next term.

Patriots

The Patriots’ 2024 season was filled with ups and downs. They began the season in stunning fashion by upsetting the heavily favored Cincinnati Bengals on the opening day, defying the bookies that made them the biggest underdogs on the kickoff weekend. After that, though, they proceeded to lose their next six on the spin, before the introduction of rookie quarterback Drake Maye midway through the campaign triggered some hope that their rebuilding era may well be gaining traction.

New England dove into the offseason with purpose. The draft yielded arguably the best tackle in the class of 2025 with the addition of former LSU superstar Will Campbell. Following his drafting, he generated plenty of attention when he said: “I’m going to fight and die to protect him (Maye) with everything I’ve got.” That certainly resonated with both supporters and oddsmakers, who have slashed prices on the Pats returning to promise by winning the AFC East down to +475.

Dolphins

The Dolphins were one of the most exciting teams in 2022 and 2023, reaching the playoffs in back-to-back years. Many thought they were in for a breakout year in 2024, but unfortunately for them, familiar woes curtailed their hopes.

Those, of course, came in the form of injuries to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The former Alabama Crimson Tide superstar is without question a supremely talented QB, and at his best, he is more than a match for most in the league. However, the fact remains that it is simply impossible to keep the 27-year-old fit for an entire season, and that is why Miami is a distant +650 shot to win the division.

Tua topped the league in passing yards in 2023, racking up a mighty 4,624. He followed that up with an injury-hit campaign in which he started just 11 games, winning six of them. If the Dolphins’ medical staff can nurse him through a full season, then they may well surprise a few. If not, don’t expect them to be anywhere near the postseason conversation.

Jets

Finally, we come to the Jets, who are a whopping +1500 outsider for divisional honors next term. The Gang Green cut ties with much-maligned quarterback Aaron Rodgers at the end of last season after a disappointing two-year stint. Much was hoped of A-Rod at MetLife Stadium, but he missed the entirety of the 2023 season with an injury before looking like a shadow of his old self last season.

Now, the Jets are firmly in rebuild mode. Justin Fields has been brought in as a bridge quarterback, and if he can hit the kind of form that led the Steelers to an impressive start to last season, then the Gang Green could well be in business. Breece Hall, Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner, and Quincy Williams are all big players on their day, but their days came all too infrequently last season.

As such, a bright start to the 2025 campaign is imperative. If they can produce that, then those lengthy divisional odds could well shorten drastically.
