The New York Jets have rewarded starting center Josh Myers with an extension. The former second-rounder spent four seasons in Green Bay before becoming a free agent. He signed rather early in the 2025 cycle, inking his one-year deal worth $2 million on March 12th.

Jets Sign Josh Myers to a Two-Year Extension
This is a great deal for Josh Myers. The two-year, $11 million price tag pegs him as just the 16th highest-paid center in the league in terms of AAV (Average Annual Value). This is pretty reflective of his play as well, as PFF has him ranked 25th in pass blocking and 27th in run blocking out of 31 eligible centers. The eye test is better for Myers, though, as he and the Jets have created one of the better rushing attacks in football. The Jets currently rank seventh in rushing yards per game with 128.7. They are also tied for eighth in yards per rush attempt with the Rams this season, with 4.7. He’s average in pass protection, allowing two or more pressures in seven games this season.
The more important part of this deal is that the Jets now have one less hole on both the offensive line and overall, going into the 2026 offseason. Josh Myers was set to be a free agent after this season. Had the Jets not gotten this deal done, they would have had two holes on the offensive line. Now, they have four out of the five presumable starters locked in, and have left themselves with a big decision for the final one.
The Left Guard Dilemma
Now that Josh Myers is locked up, the presumptive final open spot on the Jets’ 2026 starting offensive line will be at left guard. Right now, that spot is occupied by John Simpson. However, he is a free agent at the end of the year. Not only is he a free agent, but Jets veteran guard Alijah Vera-Tucker is as well. Vera-Tucker suffered a season-ending torn triceps before the season started. When healthy, he is one of the better guards in football, but unfortunately, availability is his biggest issue.
The other possible line is to address the position elsewhere, whether its free agency or the draft. There are some big-name free agents potentially available, including Joel Bitonio, Wyatt Teller, and Kevin Zeitler. There are also intriguing young options such as Evan Neal and Zion Johnson, both of which would be reclamation projects. A rookie could definitely step in as well, as there are four established starters already here. The Jets’ offensive line should be in a good spot regardless of the route they take.
