The Jets get their work done early.
The Jets have taken care of some important business as rookie minicamp takes place this weekend. The team has already signed five of the seven players it selected in the 2025 NFL Draft. Most notable among the signees is Armand Membou.

The team also announced the signings of Azareye’h Thomas, Malachi Moore, Tyler Baron, Francisco Mauigoa.
Rookie contracts are largely paint by numbers. Players selected after the first round don’t have any leverage at all.
For first round picks, the dollar figures are set by the rookie wage scale. This largely makes contract negotiations simple. There are, however, a few matters that can be negotiated such as the exact dates bonuses are paid and whether a contract includes offsets in the event a player is cut before the end of his contract. Since the adoption of the rookie wage scale, the Jets are the one team that has had a consistent problem getting its first round picks into training camp on time. These negotiating issues, which should be a small matter, have led to delays in contracts being completed.
It’s nice to see Membou signed early and this drama averted.
