If you’re a New York Jets fan who has tuned in to watch this team embarrass themselves each and every week this season, go ahead and pat yourself on the back for sticking with this joke of a franchise. Gang Green fell to 0-7 in yet another loss in which their defense gave up just thirteen points.
Last week it was a 13-11 loss to the Broncos, and this week it was a 13-6 loss to the Panthers that saw quarterback Justin Fields get pulled after the half. Having accounted -10 net passing yards last week, Fields threw for just 46 yards today. That means Fields has a net average of just over six passing yards per quarter over his past game and a half of football. There were those who thought Fields would be bad, but this is just unfathomable.
It started early on for Fields today when the Jets went for it on forth down to start the game, only to have Fields fire high to Josh Reynolds on an incomplete pass that gave Carolina the ball. It didn’t get any better from there either, forcing Aaron Glenn to turn to Tyrod Taylor.
Despite a mini-spark from Taylor upon making the change, the vet QB would miss badly on some deep ball underthrows en route to tossing two interceptions.
So Aaron Glenn has a choice at quarterback right now. Go with a guy who refuses to throw the ball down the field, or a guy who can’t throw the ball down the field. Decisions, decisions.
