Jets GM Gives Noncommittal Answer On Star Trade Rumors

April 29, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Breece Hall Trade

The New York Jets didn’t trade Breece Hall during the 2025 NFL Draft, but that doesn’t mean he’ll be on the roster in Week 1. A second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Hall has been one of the league’s most explosive backs when on the field but has never quite earned a full-time role. Despite averaging 4.6 yards per attempt, the Iowa State product has yet to record a 1,000-yard season, and the organization has not committed to bringing him back for the final year of his rookie contract. The best we got was New York Jets General Manager Doug Mougey saying Hall was “on the team.”

With reports indicating the Jets won’t extend Hall, teams across the league reportedly believe the running back could be available for the right price. The 2025 NFL Draft was loaded with running back talent, but teams that missed on their preferred prospects might now turn to New York and see if they can execute a Breece Hall trade.

Jets GM Doesn’t Shut Down Breece Hall Trade Rumors – Could Be Available “For Right Price”

Possible Fits

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have the worst running back room in the league and must do something to address the position before Week 1. Javonte Williams never looked the same after his season-ending knee injury in 2022, Miles Sanders is coming off a disastrous two-year stint with the Carolina Panthers, and rookie Jaydon Blue was a fifth-round pick for a reason. The Dallas Cowboys have a strong roster with a franchise quarterback, a strong offensive line, and talented defensive playmakers, but they could use a running back as the cherry on top of this talented squad. Breece Hall is the best choice for the job, and the trade target could thrive in a new environment.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Kansas City Chiefs have not featured a true three-down back since the peak Kareem Hunt days. While they’ve managed to get by with Isiah Pacheco handling starting duties, this team could use a true three-down threat. Head coach Andy Reid used to be notorious for turning his starting running backs into unstoppable forces, but he hasn’t had the talent to execute his vision over the past few years. That could change with a Breece Hall trade, as the former second-round pick has 2,000-yard potential in this offense.

Cincinnati Bengals

Chase Brown survived the NFL Draft, as the Cincinnati Bengals didn’t select a running back until they took Tahj Brooks in the sixth round. While the third-year pro should start, he’s not exactly built for a full-time role. Even going back to his days in college, Brown only has one season with over 230 rushing attempts and two seasons with 200 or more carries. The Bengals could use a player to ease his burden, and a Breece Hall trade could give this team a near-unstoppable running back duo.

New Orleans Saints

Alvin Kamara is still a good starting running back, but the veteran has lost a step from his peak and isn’t getting any younger. Kamara was at his best when he had someone like Mark Ingram to complement him in the backfield. Hall could form a short-term starting duo with Kamara before eventually taking over as the three-down back once age officially catches up with the Saints legend.
