The New York Jets lost to the Los Angeles Rams and for periods of the Week 16 contest Garrett Wilson was very quiet.
Not so much by his doing.
Wilson had only three targets at halftime and finished with six catches and 54 yards. Had ended up with seven targets in the outing during the 19-9 loss.
Wilson expressed an interest to be involved in the game more–which comes on the heels of rumblings that Wilson might request a trade this offseason. Wilson seemed to be a bit unhappy as as well.
“I would love to be,” Wilson said. “That’s out of my control.”
While not directly related to Wilson’s involvement at all, Aaron Rodgers’ post-game comments were an interesting comparison. The Jets QB mentioned
“I think we’re kind of passed the ‘keeping positive’ thing,” Rodgers said via video conference. “We’ve got to figure out what it means to be a professional, I think that’s an important part to building culture, and the last two weeks, we can really see who’s on board moving forward, & who’s ready to get out.”
Again, not a shot at Wilson, but a worth-while thought.
Wilson’s full thoughts following the loss to the Rams can be found below:
#Jets WR Garrett Wilson asked why he wasn’t more involved — just three targets until the offense’s final possession.
You can tell he’s upset by it.
