Watch for the New York Jets to surprise some people at pick No. 4 on Thursday night.
According to Jets reporter Connor Hughes, Florida State edge rusher Jermaine Johnson II is in serious play for the team at the first of its two top-10 picks.
On Monday, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan tweeted, “A player who will go higher Thursday than most seem to expect is FSU edge rusher Jermaine Johnson. Some I spoke with believe he will ultimately be best pass rusher in this draft. Seems to be a Top 10 lock. Maybe even sneaks into Top 5?”
To which Hughes responded, “Watch the Jets at 4. Yes. 4.”

Most mock’s have the Jets selecting Ohio State’s Garrett Wilson at four, in order to give Zach Wilson a dynamic weapon to work with on the outside.
However, with Johnson climbing up draft boards and New York needing help at a bunch of spots (not to mention being led by a defensive coach) it’s not out of the realm of possibility they go pass rusher with its first pick.
At 6-5, 254, seemingly has all the traits to develop into a very good pass rusher at the next level. With scouts comparing him to Raiders Pro Bowler Maxx Crosby.
The NFL Draft kicks off Thursday from Las Vegas. The Jets have four picks in the top 38.
