New York Jets general manager Joe Douglas must have the Denver Broncos on speed-dial because he’s now made two big player trades this week.
During the sixth round of today’s NFL Draft, the Jets traded defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers to the Broncos. In return, the Jets receive a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Franklin-Myers is a respected pass rusher who has 17.5 sacks and 61 QB hits in 65 games for the Jets. He was a key part of the Jets’ pass rush rotation, but had a massive cap hit for the team this year.
In trading Franklin-Myers, the Jets get some valuable cap relief. His cap hit is over $16 million this year and the Jets are pretty firmly in the red.
As for the Broncos, Franklin-Myers is now the second player that they’ve acquired from the Jets this week.
A few days ago, the Broncos were kind enough to take quarterback Zach Wilson off of their hands. Wilson seems unlikely to get much playing time right now though as the Broncos wound up drafting quarterback Bo Nix in the first round of this year’s draft.
So that’s two new players for the Broncos that may or may not have a big role to play in a crucial rebuilding year for them, and two players the Jets are getting rid of that were burning cap space to cinders.
Who do you think got more value out of these trades between the Jets and Broncos this past week?
