Earlier this week, we shared Bent’s bold predictions for the 2026 offseason via SNY. However, can we put any stock into these predictions? Let’s recap last year’s suggestions…
The Jets head into a new era with Aaron Glenn as their head coach
Clearly we nailed this prediction. The jury might be out on how good this new era has been or is going to be, but it’s here… for better or worse.
The return of some familiar faces
Suggestions here were that maybe John Morton or Demario Davis could follow Glenn to the Jets to aid with the installation process.
That didn’t happen. However, the Jets did bring back the likes of Jarius Monroe and Kingsley Jonathan at the end of the season. And, of course, Glenn himself was a familiar face having played several years for the team in the late nineties and early 2000’s.
But, the main one that makes this a perfect prediction: Nick Folk.
Aaron Rodgers stays, but Davante Adams leaves
This was perhaps the boldest prediction of all. Adams did indeed leave but Rodgers did too. However, did we really ever see the back of him?
From the season opener with him on the opposing sideline to his regular passive-aggressive pointed barbs at the Jets organization, Rodgers was out of sight but never out of mind, as local outlets covered everything that happened to him as hungrily as they did while he was still here.
Rodgers’ shadow loomed over the entire season, much as the Jets themselves resided rent-free in his head all year.
Wholesale changes on the special teams unit
This one was so right, it arguably makes up for the fact we’ve been a little charitable about accepting the veracity of some of the other predictions.
Greg the Leg? Gone. Thomas Morstead? Gone. Xavier Gipson? Gone, if a week later than he should have been. And the Jets never replaced leading tackler Chazz Surratt or activated special teams demon Irv Charles.
It was a good move too, as Chris Banjo’s new unit was one of the league’s best.
Drafting their quarterback of the future or trading down for more assets — how about both?
This may not have happened in the 2025 offseason, but it can comfortably be considered as something that was postponed, not incorrect.
Here we are 12 months later and the Jets are about to draft their quarterback of the future, and have already acquired a bunch of assets via trade. So they’re playing the same tune, just with some of the notes played in a different order.
Maybe a bit of stretch but this prediction was essentially true, from a certain point of view.
Basically, five perfect predictions, we’re sure you’ll agree. It’s a lot to live up to and more difficult than ever to guess what’s going to happen in 2026, but we’ll do our best to repeat the trick.
