The New York Jets (3-10) continue the final march towards another irrelevant season in Week 15 as they travel to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars (3-10) at EverBank stadium.
There are plenty of areas that need to improve if they want to snap their four game losing streak with a victory on Sunday.
Here are causes for concern that could spell trouble for the Jets in Week 15:
Confidence

The Jets have done more than enough over their last three games to win, but they can’t seem to get over the mental hurdles to put opposing teams away. Whether it’s under Jeff Ulbrich or even Robert Saleh, New York lacked a killer instinct and buckle under the pressure when faced with adversity. Each loss over this four-game losing streak has been worse than the previous one and it’s killing the players from a mental standpoint.
Week 15 needs to be a laugher. The confidence of the players right now is on life support and they could walk into this game completely checked out if the coaches don’t have an aggressive game plan from start to finish. There will be no playoffs for the Jets in 2024 but that doesn’t mean the coaches can’t keep this team focused and motivated to finish the season strong.
The Fourth Quarter

The Jets have done more than enough over their last three games to win…..for three quarters. But, they get conservative in the final 15 minutes and put too much pressure on their defense to bail them out.
New York calls too many pass plays instead of focusing on the running game when they have a lead. They settle for field goals when they should be getting touchdowns. They make mental mistakes and commit bad penalties at the worst times. They do everything in their power to give the game away in the final quarter. It’s the difference between them being 6-7 and 3-10.
If the Jets lose this game again in the fourth quarter, especially in the final moments to a team worse than them, they will deserve every ounce of humiliation and criticism that comes their way.
Players Out for Themselves

One area that has crushed the Jets this season is leadership. There is no one on the roster who wants to be the leader and that’s a huge reason why they have badly underachieved. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and receiver Garrett Wilson can talk about how tired they are of losing, but they’ve also done very little to bring the roster together to achieve the goal of ending this embarrassing playoff drought.
With another year of missing the playoffs in the books, there’s no way to know if players are still focused on trying to win games or just going through the motions on the field to protect themselves from getting injured.
Whether the players like it or not, they are under contract to the New York Jets and there are still four games remaining on the schedule. If the veterans aren’t going to put in the effort for a win, let the young guys eat as they’ll be looking to prove themselves to be part of the solution for the new general manager and coaching staff that takes over next year.
