Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Agree to Contract
After suffering in 2023, Rodgers returned to the field in 2024 but couldn’t play up to expectations. Starting in all 17 games, the legendary quarterback and eventual Hall of Famer finished the year completing 63.0% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 interceptions, and a 77.8 PFF grade, the 18th-best mark in the league out of 42 eligible players. While he never came close to matching his MVP-caliber form, he was better than his 5-12 record would imply.
Aaron Rodgers originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. Selected by the Green Bay Packers, the California product spent the first two years of his career backing up franchise quarterback Brett Favre. However, following an endless cycle of retirement drama, Green Bay traded Favre and moved forward with Rodgers in 2008.
This proved to be the first decision, as the former first-round pick quickly became one of the league’s top passers. Becoming a star right out of the gate, Rodgers guided the Packers to a Super Bowl championship in 2010 and only improved from there. He won his first MVP award in 2011, completing 68.3% of his passes for 4,643 yards, 45 touchdowns, and just six interceptions. While he never won a Super Bowl again, he remained one of the game’s all-time greats through the 2021 season, when he won his fourth MVP.
Green Bay selected quarterback Jordan Love in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft to be the eventual heir to Aaron Rodgers. Following an eight-win 2022 where Rodgers was good, but not great, the team sent him to the New York Jets and moved forward with Love.
Since signing his rookie contract, Aaron Rodgers has completed 65.1% of his passes for 62,952 yards, 503 touchdowns, and 116 interceptions.
