Yes, the Jets are also trading for Phillips who is likely to slot right into the starting lineup alongside Quinnen Williams.
He’s almost 30 and should boost the Jets’ run defense, with Byron Cowart still not practicing and Jay Tufele, Derrick Nnadi, Phidarian Mathis and Leonard Taylor obviously not having impressed the Jets coaches enough to warrant a starting role.
It will be interesting to see how those four slot in now with Jowon Briggs also having been added in to the mix and the two UDFAs (Payton Page and Fatorma Mulbah) also showing enough promise to at least warrant practice squad consideration.

The Vikings are also reportedly paying half of Phillips’ salary so he will be under contract for about $11m over the next two seasons with none of next year’s money guaranteed.
