New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers is doing everything in his power to return to playing in NFL games this season. But there’s some understandable concern that he risks re-injuring the Achilles that needed to undergo surgery to get him to this point.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, Rodgers said that he understands the risks of coming back so quickly from such a major injury. But when he said, “What’s the worst that can happen?” people wanted him to elaborate.
Rodgers made it clear that he doesn’t see a downside to reinjuring it because he’ll just have the offseason to rehab and then be back on his feet in another five to six months after that.
“…in my opinion there’s not a downside to coming back and reinjuring it…” Rodgers said, via Jets insider Zack Rosenblatt.

The Jets are in dire straits right now. At 4-7 they’re nearing mathematical elimination from the playoffs and could be out of the race before Rodgers even has a chance to step on the field.
But if by some miracle the Jets are still alive by the time Rodgers is healthy enough to play, it would be a hard sell to the team to let him onto the field and risk an even more crippling injury.
