The New York Jets started hot against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 16. Typically a 99-yard touchdown drive on your first possession on offense will give a team a jolt of confidence.
That did not happen for the Jets (4-11). They ended up losing 19-9 against the Rams (9-6) despite this exact occurrence going down.
Capping that series was a touchdown pass from Aaron Rodgers to receiver Davante Adams. Despite Rodgers leading that march down the field, the QB, like many, was searching for answers relating to what went wrong after the loss.
“The rhythm disappeared,” Rodgers said. “Not a lot of a possessions with high-volume plays.”
Rodgers completed 22 of his 42 pass attempts for 256 yards and did not turn the ball over until a late fumble against Los Angeles. Even so, New York’s offense didn’t establish much of a threat after their only TD.
Considering that, Rodgers’ analysis might be onto something. However, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich thought something a bit different.
“This group, they absolutely have no quit in them,” Ulbrich said via video conference. “They’re absolutely fighting. Every single human being in that locker room should be proud of their effort.”
With two games left, the Jets will hope those will be the final pair of games where… the team appears to be moving in a few different directions in terms of their mindset.
Rodgers’ full breakdown can be found in the clip below:
“The rhythm disappeared I think. It was a real strange game possession wise.”
