Aaron Glenn Entering Adam Gase Territory After 42-10 Loss

December 29, 2025 by Jet Nation

For those Jets fans who believed Adam Gase’s 2020 team would be the worst they would ever see, Aaron Glenn and his club might have you re-thinking that notion.

Worst point differentials in @nyjets team history with no in-season coaching change:

1) Adam Gase 2020: -214
2) Robert Saleh 2021: -194
3) Aaron Glenn 2025: -176 (1 game remaining)
4) Rich Kotite 1996: -175
5) Joe Walton 1989: -158

— Glenn Naughton (@JNRadio_Glenn) December 28, 2025

After his team no-showed their week seventeen meeting with the Patriots in a 42-10 drubbing, Glenn is now approaching Gase territory in one of the team’s worst point differentials ever.  The Jets entered today at -144 which is now of course -176 after their 32-point loss.  This means that if the Jets show up and sleepwalk through another game, we could see Aaron Glenn surpass Gase’s minus-214 should they lose by 38 or more.

Even if such a lopsided result is unlikely, the fact that this team is even in the ballpark is highly discouraging.  Glenn was supposed to be a guy who would fix the defense right away and bring the offense along.  Instead, his defense, with the exception of a few games, has looked lifeless in recent weeks.

So bad was the Jets secondary today that Drake Maye became the first quarterback in NFL history to complete over ninety percent of his passes while throwing for 250 yards or more as he finished up at 19-21 for 256 yards and five touchdowns.  This, despite exiting the game in the third quarter.  It was a game that felt like the Jets opponent could have put up seventy points had they felt like it.  Luckily for Glenn, Mike Vrabel took mercy on the Jets.

Yes, Glenn was dealing with a MASH unit as they started three rookies in the secondary (S Malachi Moore, S Dean Clark, NB Jordan Clark) and were without Will McDonald up front, but the Jets just looked flat, unprepared and just flat out lost.  Not what you expected to see from the team at any point this season, but here we are.

Now Glenn and the Jets head to Buffalo to close out the season and hope to avoid becoming the single worst team in franchise history in point differential.
