We are days away from the 2025 NFL Draft, and the Jets are on the clock in this mock draft. As we get closer to draft day, all 32 general managers are working around the clock to determine their team’s needs following the start of free agency. Among them is the New York Jets. Thus far, general manager Darren Mougey has made some decent signings for the depth chart. However, they need to make strides in the draft to put head coach Aaron Glenn in a position for long-term success. Hopefully, this mock draft can indicate how they could operate. This Jets mock draft will include three players that can help both in 2025 and beyond.
Seven Round Jets Mock Draft: Trenches Solidified
In my last mock draft, I had the Jets grab the number one tight end on nearly every draft board, Tyler Warren out of Penn State. While I believe tight end remains a major need, a talented name has gained traction recently. One that has propelled him into Top 10 draft pick territory. Within this mock draft, the Jets will be able to add to the offensive and defensive lines early. In addition, this 2025 Jets mock draft will contain a potential quarterback of the future in day three.
First Round/7th overall pick: Armand Membou, offensive tackle, Missouri
With veteran Morgan Moses now signed with the New England Patriots, the Jets need to fill the hole at right tackle. After spending three seasons as a starter at Missouri, right tackle Armand Membou has been gaining traction with the Jets. After finishing 2024 with All-SEC second-team honors, Membou has used this offseason to shoot up draft boards. While height and arm length have been a concern, Membou ran sub-five second 40 yard time at 6’4″ and 332 lbs. That kind of speed for an offensive tackle of his stature is beyond impressive. Pairing him with 2024 first-round pick Olu Fashanu gives the Jets their bookend tackle duo for years to come.
Second Round/42nd overall pick: Tyleik Williams, defensive tackle, Ohio State
During the 2024 season, fans were disappointed to see the once-energetic defense become stagnant in Robert Saleh’s final season. Primarily, the Jets were unable to stop the run for the majority of the season. Star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams remains a focal point and will need more help than new signee Derrick Nnadi can provide. So why not pair Quinnen Williams with another national championship-winning defensive tackle?
Tyleik Williams was an important part of the Buckeyes’ defensive front. Williams made himself a name as one of the best run defenders in the Big 10 during his time in Columbus, Ohio. He’s still developing as a pass rusher; however, playing next to Quinnen Williams with both Jermaine Johnson and Will McDonald off the edge should allow New York to get to the quarterback with ease.
Third Round/73rd overall pick: Gunnar Helm, tight end, Texas
After Tyler Conklin signed with the Los Angeles Chargers, tight end remains a position of need in New York. Fortunately, New York has an offensive coordinator who developed two Pro Bowl-caliber tight ends with the Detroit Lions. After attending Texas Pro Day last month, the team saw Longhorns players up close. A tight end like Gunnar Helm would be perfect for Tanner Engstrand to develop. At 6’5″ and weighing nearly 240lbs, Helm has excellent body control, thanks to his basketball background. This makes him an ideal candidate for contested catches. Due to quarterback Justin Fields’s preference to throw to tight ends, Gunnar Helm has the opportunity for targets early.
Fourth Round/109th overall pick: Kyle McCord, quarterback, Syracuse
With the quarterback room in need of some youth behind Fields and Tyrod Taylor, New York adds a traditional pocket passer to the mix. While not an athlete of Fields’ caliber, Kyle McCord proved he could play at the next level. After leaving Ohio State in 2023, the Syracuse quarterback led the NCAA in passing yards and had the Syracuse Orange’s best record in over five seasons. Kyle McCord threw 34 passing touchdowns and had another three rushing touchdowns. While McCord profiles as a gunslinger, Tanner Engstrand’s time with Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff could help develop McCord into a future starter.
Fifth Round/146th overall pick: Kyle Williams, wide receiver, Washington State
The team added to the wide receiver room by signing Josh Reynolds to replace Allen Lazard. However, New York still needs a wide receiver to pair with Garrett Wilson long-term. Concerns over his size against physical corners are concerning, but Kyle Williams possesses game-changing speed out of the slot. Pairing him with Garrett Wilson and Reynolds gives New York a complimentary piece paired with the two veterans and Malachi Corley.
Fifth Round/157th overall pick(acquired from the Steelers): Tommi Hill, cornerback, Nebraska
Even after an injury-filled 2024, Nebraska cornerback Tommi Hill is a promising defensive back. A work in progress in man coverage, and he possesses promise in zone coverage with his route awareness. Between Aaron Glenn’s history of developing cornerbacks & Steve Wilks’s lengthy experience, the coaching staff should develop Tommi Hill into a future starter.
Sixth Round/188th overall pick: Oronde Gadsden II, tight end, Syracuse
After grabbing Kyle McCord in the fourth round, why not grab his college tight end as well? The son of former Miami Dolphins wide receiver Oronde Gadsden Sr, the Syracuse product has thrived after converting to his current position. While double dipping at tight end, Gadsden’s receiving skills will allow him to see snaps in 12 personnel.
Sixth Round/209th overall pick(acquired from the Chiefs): Jay Higgins, linebacker, Iowa
With their final pick, New York opts to add depth to the linebacker room. Jay Higgins has upside as a will linebacker due to his tackling abilities and impact against the run. Due to his low floor, thanks to his production and underrated situational awareness, Higgins would be a solid addition.
