What does 2020 have in store for the NFC East

The 2020 schedule was released last night, and right on time.

In the midst of all that’s going on in the world, it at least gives us some semblance of normalcy.  Even if we’re still unsure what the NFL will look like come fall.

But let’s look at what 2020 could mean for the teams in the NFC East.  Aside from teams in their division, the NFC East will face the AFC North and the NFC West.

So, some pretty tough competition in and out of their division.

Starting with the New York Giants.

This is the start of an era for this team. Without quarterback Eli Manning, QB Daniel Jones is looking to bring the Giants back to be the playoff contenders of about ten years ago.  But they’re going to have a tough road ahead.  They start on Monday Night Football in a showdown with the Pittsburgh Steelers.  From there they play three more non-divisional games before they face their division in three straight games. They have a late bye, and then play four more non-divisional games and then they face the Cowboys to close out the season.  It looks to be a pretty tough season for the Giants on paper.  Jones and company live up to expectations?

Moving on to the Philadelphia Eagles.

It’s QB Carson Wentz, first-round pick QB Jalen Hurts, and a pretty enticing schedule to boot for the Eagles this season.  They open up on the road in Washington and then back home for a good test against the Los Angeles Rams.  Again, this schedule is pretty tough, as they’ll have to face a high flying Ravens team, along with a stronger NFC West, that was already pretty solid last season.  Throw in the Green Bay Packers, and New Orleans Saints, the Eagles will be tested this season, that’s for sure.  If Wentz can stay healthy, and if their offense comes alive, they’ll be ready.

Continuing down the I-95 corridor, we hit the Washington Redskins.

First off, bravo to their social media person.  I love, “Football, is that you playa?”

There is a lot to like about this team: a new defensive-minded head coach in Ron Rivera, a beast of a first-round pick in defensive end Chase Young and a young quarterback in Dwayne Haskins. Y’all.  But like the other teams in their division, they’re going to be challenged. If Coach Rivera can get their defense on point, watch out.  This defense will give teams all that they can handle.  And isn’t there a saying about defenses and championships???

Last, but very far from least are the Dallas Cowboys.

#CowboysNation, what game are YOU most excited for?

If quarterback Dak Prescott is looking for a contract, he’s going to have his work cut out for him.  Just like the Giants, they start with four non-divisional games, with the opener being against the Rams on Sunday Night Football. As always, this team will be fun to watch.  New coach, a pretty good draft, and a quarterback who is trying to get a deal. Oh, and how could I forget their prized running back, Ezekiel Elliot.  It’ll be an interesting season for sure for this team.

Hopefully, we’ll get to see this all play out!
