Let’s see who graded well, and who did not
Let’s check the Pro Football Focus graded and official snap counts for the New York Giants from Sunday’s 38-10 drubbing of the Indianapolis Colts.
Offensive grades
- The highest-graded offensive player for the Giants was wide receiver Richie James (87.5). That will happen when you catch all seven passes thrown your way and score a touchdown.
- Left tackle Andrew Thomas was the highest-graded offensive lineman (82.4). He had an 88.2 pass-blocking grade and did not allow a single pressure in 30 pass-blocking snaps.
- Oft-criticized right guard Mark Glowinski had a solid 76.5 overall grade. He allowed just one pressure in 30 pass-blocking snaps.
- Rookie right tackle Evan Neal (73.8) had a nice game. He allowed just one pressure in 30 pas-blocking snaps.
- Nick Gates was the lowest-graded offensive lineman at 51.0. He had a poor 27.1 pass-blocking grade, giving up two pressures in 14 pass-blocking attempts. Gates also had a tripping penalty.
Offensive snap counts
- Neal is the only Giant offensive player who played every snap.
- Gates ended up with 37 snaps and Ben Bredeson 36.
Defensive grades
- PFF really liked the work Landon Collins did, giving him a team-best 89.4 grade. His pick six helped a little as he had a 92.4 coverage grade.
- Xavier McKinney scored a 66.6 in his return.
Defensive snap counts
- McKinney played 48 snaps (83 percent) in his return to action.
- Collins played 32 snaps (55 percent).
- Edge defender Azeez Ojulari played just seven snaps. The Giants didn’t really need him.
