Three Bold Moves the Steelers, Giants, and Bengals Should Make

September 23, 2025 by Last Word On Pro Football

Three weeks into the 2025 NFL season, the Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, and Cincinnati Bengals are already making headlines for different reasons. The Giants and Bengals are fighting to stay alive after rough starts, while the Steelers remain in the mix but still have issues holding them back. Bold Moves Steelers, Giants, Bengals captures what each of these teams must consider if they want to improve.

Three Bold Moves the Steelers, Giants, and Bengals Should Make

New York Giants

The Giants’ situation is straightforward. Russell Wilson hasn’t been awful, but he’s simply past his prime now. At times, he gets restless in the pocket and just airs it out, hoping his receivers can make a play. The result has been turnovers and wasted possessions. While the offense looked lively a week ago, Sunday against Kansas City, it sputtered badly. Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson were barely involved until late, and the unit managed just one touchdown in a game they needed to have. It is time to see what first-round pick Jaxson Dart can do. Dart is athletic, mobile, and confident.

At 0-3 with the red-hot Chargers up next, the Giants need to make the switch. Wilson has had a great career and is a great leader, but waiting around with him will only keep the season stuck. Starting Dart now gives the franchise a chance to spark life into a team that desperately needs a win.

Cincinnati Bengals

The Bengals also need to make a bold move. Against Minnesota, the offense melted down with turnovers. Jake Browning threw two interceptions, one of them a pick-six, and the offense coughed up a couple of costly fumbles. It was an embarrassing loss for a roster that still features Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins, and Chase Brown. Cincinnati cannot sit idle while Burrow is out. A trade for Jameis Winston would keep the season alive. Winston is aggressive, fearless, pushes the ball downfield, and would make full use of the weapons already in place.

Realistically, the Bengals are not going to be a playoff team without Burrow, but Winston could help them stay around .500 and remain competitive in the AFC picture. That is far better than watching the season collapse by sticking with what they have now.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers’ problem is one that has lingered for two years now. Their wide receiver depth chart is thin, even after landing DK Metcalf in a trade with Seattle. They also traded away George Pickens, who would have been the wide receiver two this year, leaving the group thin once again. Outside of Metcalf, no one is consistently creating separation, and the passing game has turned into dump-offs. That is not how a contender should operate. The Steelers might be 2-1, but they look average at best. The front office needs to add another proven target.

Tennessee is shaping up to be a seller, and both Calvin Ridley and Tyler Lockett could be available before the deadline. Either would give Aaron Rodgers a reliable option behind Metcalf and instantly make this offense harder to defend. Tyreek Hill has also been mentioned, though pulling off that deal would be expensive and complicated. Ridley or Lockett makes the most sense and would immediately fix one of Pittsburgh’s biggest flaws.

Bold moves Steelers, Giants, Bengals

If these three franchises act now, their seasons can still be salvaged. Playing it passive only leads to wasted opportunities. The NFL rewards boldness, and the Steelers, Giants, and Bengals need to prove they are willing to take that step.
