After the Denver loss, I had so much disgust for the coaching staff that I swore off getting invested in the Giants until they could prove it otherwise.
Dart is worth our time. Daboll is not. Since I’m not a masochist, I may have to sit this out until Daboll/Bowen is removed. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. So only a masochist is going to expect Daboll to stop imploding this team. He has consistently underachieved.
Today I had a choice between going to the Houston Texans game and watching the Giants/Dart. I really like watching and rooting for Dart. But Daboll’s tenure is a slow death spiral. It’s a plunge into the abyss. I spared myself the pain. I chose the Houston game.
The defense can’t stop the run. Why is Tae Banks on the roster? Theo Johnson is maddening. He is brilliant in the first TD, then drops key passes that fizzle drives. Someone needs to step in and fire Daboll because he unnecessarily and recklessly puts Dart in harm’s way. Someone relayed that the Defense is giving up on the team/coaches.
Seattle hasn’t given up 100 yds on the ground in the last 16 games, notes SNF announcer Mike Tirico. That is in contrast to the Giants, who’ve given up 100+ yards running in SEVEN of NINE games just this season.
One friend of the blog notes: “I turned that fiasco off at halftime and other than watching some more of Dart I’m unlikely to watch much more Giant football this season.”
I still believe the roster is improving. This is the same team that beat LAC PHL and should have beaten DAL DEN NO. So we know there is potential. But we are back to excessive underachievement. You can’t be so sloppy that you get gashed regularly, you can’t tackle, and you can’t catch the ball. If your team can’t execute the fundamentals, it’s hard to watch and support them.
Schneier: “The bottom line is all Daboll & Schoen do is LOSE football games. They’ve lost an INSANE number of games since they’ve been here. This despite drafting a rookie QB who is set to win OROY
Constants: Penalties, poor tackling, no depth, coaching scared, inexcusable roster management.”
We have detailed Daboll/staff deficiencies. Until we see consistent competitiveness I think that Daboll’s days are numbered. The Giants roster desperately needs discipline and accountability. If ownership were paying attention they’d be holding management and themselves accountable too.
