Pre-training camp NFL power rankings: New York Giants still near the bottom

Things haven’t changed

As a new NFL season dawns, where do the New York Giants sit in 2025 pre-training camp power rankings? About where they did last season — somewhere near the bottom.

Here are a smattering of recently-released power rankings.

Yahoo! Sports (No. 27)

On one hand the Giants are getting better. They had a good offseason last year and this year’s draft and free agency seemed to be strong as well. But there are still many holes, which speaks to how much work the roster needed even as the Giants made the playoffs in 2022. The Giants should want Jaxson Dart to sit as long as possible, though it will be tough to resist putting him in as the losses pile up. The team has a Week 14 bye, and giving Dart the final four games to show what he can do seems right. What happens in those final four games will be crucial in determining the future of the franchise, including the job status of the coach and general manager. The Giants are in for another losing season, and that seems more likely than not to be bad news for Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen. Dart might be able to save them, and reinvigorate the fan base, by showing promise late in the season.

The Athletic (No. 30)

New York has gone from nine wins to six wins to three wins in Brian Daboll’s three seasons. If the trend continues and the Giants go winless this season, it’ll be his last. New York has added quarterbacks Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart, and hopes to boost an offense that was 31st in scoring last year (16.1 ppg).

Sporting News (No. 25)

Yeah, they have Jaxson Dart, but this team isn’t good. This will be another year of looking for a new head coach and hitting rock bottom again.

Bleacher Report (No. 30)

My opinion of the Giants hasn’t changed since our post-draft power rankings. I think defensive additions like Jevon Holland and Abdul Carter will make New York more respectable on that side of the ball, and I feel like Jaxson Dart will make the offense interesting at some point in 2025. However, I don’t view the Giants as legitimate playoff contenders. We’ve seen New York surprise before—it just made the postseason in 2022 and gave Daniel Jones a raise the following offseason—but I’d expect to see Brian Daboll on the hot seat before I see the Giants in the playoffs.
