Earlier in the day, reports indicated that the New York Giants were open to a Kayvon Thibodeaux trade. This came as a surprise, as the first-round pick has been one of New York’s best players over the past four years, and you can never have too many pass rushers. However, they were believable, as the Giants signed Brian Burns to a massive extension and used the third-overall pick on Penn State’s Abdul Carter.
However, it appears as though Kayvon Thibodeaux isn’t going anywhere, as NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported the Giants have “no interest” in a trade. Ian Rapoport added to this, saying that “the Giants didn’t work to build up their defensive front only to start tearing it down.”

Report: Giants Will NOT Trade Kayvon Thibodeaux
Even though the Giants are 2-6, Kayvon Thibodeaux is having another strong season and likely would have generated a good return on the trade market. Starting and appearing in all eight games, the Oregon product has recorded 2.5 sacks, 21 tackles, five tackles-for-loss, and nine quarterback hits while providing elite play against the run. Per Pro Football Focus, his 83.1 run defense grade is the third-best mark out of 119 eligible edge defenders.
Now playing in his fourth season, Thibodeaux will remain with the Giants through at least the 2026 season before he can test free agency. New York used the fifth-year option to keep him in town, and they could theoretically use the franchise tag in 2027 and 2028 to ensure he remains with the organization. While he will become more expensive in the coming years, New York has ways to keep him on the roster when this team is competitive enough to compete for a championship.
