NFL Trade Rumors: Potential Trade Candidates Around the League
Quarterbacks:
Kenny Pickett (Cleveland Browns): Joe Flacco has been named the starter, and it’s unclear how long he’ll hold the job. The Browns also used draft capital on Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders and want to keep all their current quarterbacks on the roster. Pickett, who is still young, has upside and wants a chance to prove himself, could end up being the odd man out or request a trade himself.
Jameis Winston (New York Giants): Winston is stuck behind Russell Wilson and rookie Jaxson Dart. Any quarterback-needy team during the season could pick up the phone and call the Giants about Winston.
Skylar Thompson (Pittsburgh Steelers)– Thompson has been playing very well in the preseason, but Pittsburgh drafted Will Howard and still has Mason Rudolph. The Steelers believe Howard could develop, and they are comfortable with Rudolph as Aaron Rodgers’ backup. Thompson may be expendable and could serve as a strong backup elsewhere.
Patriots Wide Receivers:
Kendrick Bourne (New England Patriots): New England is loaded at receiver with Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, Demario “Pop” Douglas, Efton Chism, and Kyle Williams. Bourne, who has battled injuries in recent years, is a potential trade target and cut candidate.
Kayshon Boutte (New England Patriots): Boutte is young and has flashed potential, and another team could take a chance on his upside. With the Patriots’ depth, Boutte could become a trade piece with upside for a receiver-needy team.
Ja’Llynn Polk (New England Patriots): Drafted in the second round in 2024, Polk has struggled to live up to expectations in New England’s crowded receiver room. A change of scenery could help unlock his potential and give him a fresh start in a system better suited to his skill set.
Other receivers outside of Terry McLaurin:
Adam Thielen (Carolina Panthers): Despite being 34, Thielen has aged very well. He posted a 1,000-yard season just two years ago and continues to produce. Carolina now has a crowded receiver room with rookie star Tetairoa McMillan, Jalen Coker, Xavier Legette, and Hunter Renfrow. The veteran could be a valuable addition for a contender in need of reliable hands and leadership.
Romeo Doubs (Green Bay Packers): His name has been floating around all offseason, but Green Bay may want to keep him with Christian Watson sidelined until at least midseason and Jayden Reed dealing with an injury. Doubs had 46 catches for 601 yards and four touchdowns last season despite missing four games with a concussion. While his name continues to pop up in rumors, it would still be surprising to see the Packers move him.
Curtis Samuel (Buffalo Bills): Minnesota, with its cap space and need for receiver depth, could take a look at Samuel. He is coming off a down year with 31 catches for 253 yards and one touchdown, and Buffalo may need to attach a pick to move his $9 million cap hit. Samuel could slide into the versatile role that Rondale Moore was expected to play before his season-ending injury.
Running Backs:
Rhamondre Stevenson (New England Patriots): Stevenson could become a midseason trade target. The Patriots drafted TreVeyon Henderson in the second round, and the rookie looks like a future star. They also have Antonio Gibson as a reliable veteran. If Henderson takes over, a running back-needy team like Dallas could inquire about Stevenson mid-season.
Brian Robinson Jr. (Washington Commanders): Washington is already shopping Robinson, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. The Commanders like rookie Jackory Croskey-Merritt and also have Austin Ekeler and Chris Rodriguez Jr., making Robinson expendable.
Travis Etienne (Jacksonville Jaguars): New head coach Liam Cohen appears committed to a committee approach with Travis Etienne, Tank Bigsby, and rookie Blayshon Tuten. If Tuten and Bigsby perform well, Etienne could become available. Dallas, among others, should strongly consider calling if Jacksonville explores a move.
Devin Singletary (New York Giants): Singletary could be the odd man out as Tyrone Tracy Jr. is set to start, and rookie Cam Skattebo has impressed enough to push for the RB2 role. The Giants may explore trade options if they believe in their young backs. Still, Singletary’s veteran presence could hold value in a backfield loaded with youth.
