The topic of whether the New York Giants will rest some of their starters against the Philadelphia Eagles has come up numerous times this week.
They come into Week 18 having already locked up a playoff spot, though it’s a wild card one. They cannot win the NFC East since they’re more than a game back of the Eagles.
Because of that, this game is effectively meaningless for them. That has led to head coach Brian Daboll to likely hold out some of the Giants’ starters on Sunday, per Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News.
This would be the right call if Daboll does go through with it. You don’t want to risk your top players getting hurt just a week before a playoff game.
Players like Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Darius Slayton, and Dexter Lawrence could be among some of the players who Daboll decides to sit.
Kickoff for Giants-Eagles will be at 4:25 p.m. ET.
