We’re only days away from the start of a new season, and it’s time to check out the NFC East. This go ’round, I went ahead and asked some fans how they are feeling. I like to do that every now and then. It allows me to interact with old and new friends, plus get a different perspective on the teams.
I checked in with some great people to give me their thoughts on how their team will do this season. I asked how they feel the season will go, predict the team’s record, and then someone who they feel will stand out this season.
Philadelphia Eagles– O.J. Spivey (@OJPhilly)
“The Eagles’ success in 2020 falls mainly on their makeshift offensive line (minus All-Pro guard Brandon Brooks and offensive lineman Andre Dillard) which will determine the health of quarterback Carson Wentz, their franchise quarterback. The defense will be solid with key additions such as defensive backs Darius Slay and Will Parks along with defensive linemen Javon Hargrave and a now healthy Malik Jackson.”
“If all goes well, the Birds could win their 2nd straight East title but questions of durability could have them around 10-6 at best, fighting Dallas once again for the division. Rookie wide receiver Jalen Reagor is one to watch as he has impressed in camp and running back Miles Sanders could have a breakout sophomore season as the featured tailback.”
New York Giants– Pamela Michelle (@SportyDiva)
“It’s time to start New?!? Yup, for the 3rd time in 5 years (which is crazy) for a franchise that once was the model of stability, The New York Football Giants head into the 2020 season under new head coach Joe Judge, former Patriots special teams coach. The Giants are most likely hoping Judge will inject some youthful energy and any leftover magic from the Patriots Dynasty. Fans are also banking on the 3 years of a Gettleman draft with finally start paying off. If not, I think Gettleman will find that retirement may be calling him.”
“QB Daniel Jones (Danny Dimes) will now fully take over, this is his team now. It may have taken Judge 4 months to finally say this is Jones’ team, but make no mistake, Jones is ready for the challenge. I look for [WR] Darius Slayton to do big things this season. While [WR] Sterling Shepard was out, Jones and Slayton developed chemistry, Slayton has speed, and explosiveness, with deep threat potential. This is an improved team. But, let’s be honest; with a (9-23) record in the last two years, it can’t get a lot worse.”
“This season, realistic fans should not expect the playoffs. If the Giants sneak in, it will be better than most expect. What Giants fans should prepare for is 6-10 season. On to 2021!”
Washington Football Team– Will (@_thatdudeWill)
“I’m hoping good (the fan in me) but it’s a new transition with everything happening with them. I’d say they could win 7-9 games in Year 1. We have some talent in place and definitely need to tap into the potential.
“Have to say running back Bryce Love has been showing some great early moments in camp. It’s all about QB Dwayne Haskins if and when he’s named the starter. I know he has it in him to be very good this year.”
Dwayne Haskins appears to be the #1 QB going into the season. He did everything his coaches asked of him in the offseason and he seems to be having a very good camp. I love the way RR and staff handled him in the offseason. #WFT #HTT

Dallas Cowboys — Michelle Jinks (@TheSportsJinks)
“Like every team in the NFC East, except the Eagles, the Cowboys will open the 2020 season with a new head coach in Mike McCarthy, as well as a new defensive coordinator in Mike Nolan. While we haven’t seen McCarthy’s offense post QB Aaron Rogers, we can be certain there won’t be too many changes as Kellen Moore will still call plays for Dallas.”
“The most noticeable change will be at tight end. TE Jason Witten is gone and now, third-year tight end Blake Jarwinfinally gets an opportunity to shine. Whenever he was on the field for the Cowboys, he did nothing but make plays. Offensive tools are not the issue for the Cowboys. They have top-notch talent at every level on that side of the ball.”
“But the talk for Dallas this offseason is on Nolan’s defense. The Cowboys have bolstered up the defensive line with the additions of [linemen] Everson Griffen, Dontari Poe, and Aldon Smith, to go along with [linemen] DeMarcus Lawrence, Antwaun Woods, and Tyrone Crawford. Now all they need to do is grab a safety. I know a guy…. Predicted Finish: 10-6″
And there you have it! A HUGE thank you, Will, Michelle, Pamela, and OJ!
