JULY 29, 2025 NEW YORK GIANTS TRAINING CAMP REPORT…
The New York Giants held their sixth summer training camp practice of the year on Tuesday at Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. For the second day in a row, the team practiced in full pads.
INJURY REPORT…
The following players remain on injury lists:
- Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List: LT Andrew Thomas (foot) and RB Eric Gray (knee)
- Active/Non-Football Injury (NFI) List: OLB Victor Dimukeje (pectoral)
For the second time this summer, Thomas was spotted on the sideline working with trainers.
CB Tre Hawkins (groin) did not practice.
RB Cam Skattebo (heavy workload yesterday?), WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee), WR Jalin Hyatt (cramping), and DT Dexter Lawrence (still recovering from last year’s dislocated elbow) were limited to individual drills.
WR Malik Nabers (shoulder?) got hurt blocking on a running play. He left the field with trainers and did not return. Multiple reporters tweeted after practice that the injury is not believed to be serious.
DT D.J. Davidson (hamstring or cramping?) fell to the ground and did not return after limping off of the field.
PRACTICE NOTES…
Some snippets from various media sources:
- The Giants were in full pads for the second day in a row.
- Also for the second day in a row, the emphasis was on the ground game with not much passing. In particular, there was a lot of running in the red zone.
- Overall, the offense was able to run the ball on the defense, but the passing game was not sharp. Quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston were each only 2-of-7 in red-zone offense opportunities.
- Evan Neal rotated with Greg Van Roten at right guard. Jake Kubas got one series with the starters at right guard too.
- Darius Alexander received some first-team reps at defensive tackle.
- Tae Banks and Cor’Dale Flott continue to split time at starting outside corner.
- With three receivers out, Beaux Collins, Dalen Cambre, and Da’Quan Felton received some first-team reps. Collins stood out with his run blocking, drawing cheers from his teammates.
- The Giants used DL Elijah Chatman at fullback on a running play.
- For an overview of the 1-on-1, offensive versus defensive line drills, see John Schmeelk’s report.
- In 1-on-1 drills, QB Jaxson Dart hit WR Montrell Washington deep twice, first against CB T.J. Moore and then against CB Nic Jones.
- In team drills, off a play-action fake, QB Russell Wilson hit TE Daniel Bellinger for a 15-yard touchdown.
- QB Russell Wilson found WR Darius Slayton for a nice gain after CB Tae Banks missed a tackle.
- Without NT Dexter Lawrence on the field, the defense gave up big running plays to Devin Singletary and twice to Tyrone Tracy.
- Running backs Devin Singletary and Dante Miller scored rushing touchdowns.
- Inside linebackers Bobby Okereke and Bobby Muasau broke up passes, with Muasau preventing a touchdown on a pass from QB Jameis Winston.
- OLB Brian Burns badly beat LG Jon Runyan for a “sack” of QB Russell Wilson. On this play, CB Tae Banks mugged WR Beaux Collins in the end zone on the deep pass and was flagged for pass interference.
- Overall, OLB Brian Burns would have had two “sacks” on the day.
- OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux pressured QB Russell Wilson into an incompletion after a spin move against LT James Hudson.
- On 4th down, QB Russell Wilson threw an incomplete pass on play where OLB Abdul Carter would have “sacked” him.
- QB Jaxson Dart threw a very accurate back-shoulder touchdown pass to WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey against CB Korie Black with OLB Abdul Carter closing on the play against RT Marcus Mbow. Black later broke up another pass.
- QB Jaxson Dart’s practice ended with a 4th-and-goal delay-of-game penalty and him not being ready for the shotgun snap (the play was blown dead).
- WR Tommy DeVito threw a touchdown pass to WR Dalen Cambre on a fade route.
- CB Tae Banks forced an incompletion on a QB Jameis Winston pass to TE Greg Dulcich in the end zone.
- With pressure in his face, QB Russell Wilson ended practice with a well-thrown lob to WR Darius Slayton, who was well-covered by CB Andru Phillips, for a touchdown.
