JULY 28, 2025 NEW YORK GIANTS TRAINING CAMP REPORT…
The New York Giants held their fifth summer training camp practice of the year on Monday at Quest Diagnostics Training Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey. For the first time this summer, the team practiced in full pads.
“We will have thud tackling, so it won’t be bringing to the ground,” said Head Coach Brian Daboll before practice. “Thud up, getting a good football position when you’re kind of head on with the player, not coming from the side or from behind, but it’ll be good for the offensive (and) defensive lineman who now can bull rush and run games and do some things with double teams. You don’t really run the ball too much, I would say, in OTAs or even these first few days just because you don’t want to put anybody in a bad situation. Now the double teams and the scoop blocks and the down blocks and the power rushes, that’s when you start to be able to evaluate the offensive line a little bit more. Stay away from the quarterback as normal, not leaving our feet to go to the ground, but those are some of the techniques that we’ll evaluate once the pads come on.”
INJURY REPORT – BRYCE FORD-WHEATON DONE FOR SEASON…
The following players remain on injury lists:
- Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List: LT Andrew Thomas (foot) and RB Eric Gray (knee)
- Active/Non-Football Injury (NFI) List: OLB Victor Dimukeje (pectoral)
As feared, WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton did tear his Achilles’ tendon during Sunday’s practice. He is done for the season and was officially placed on Injured Reserve. “Man, my heart aches for that man,” said Head Coach Brian Daboll. “He’s done everything he could do to get back. He’s a very good special teams player for us and was having a good camp from working back from his injury.”
WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee) and WR Da’Quan Felton (unknown) did not practice. WR Jalin Hyatt (cramping) was limited for the second day in a row, but did more.
“Hyatt will do some more than he did yesterday, probably still just individual,” said Daboll. “We’ll see where he is at after that, but making improvement and we’ll hold Wan’ Dale today. Nothing serious. Just got a knee to the leg, so we’ll take care of him.”
GIANTS RE-SIGNING GUNNER OLSZEWSKI …
Due to the injury to WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton, the Giants are re-signing unrestricted free agent WR/returner Gunner Olszewski, who spent the season on Injured Reserve in 2024 with a groin injury. The 6’0”, 190-pound Olszewski was originally signed by the New England Patriots as an undrafted rookie free agent after the 2019 NFL Draft. He has spent time with the Patriots (2019-2021) and Steelers (2022-2023). The Giants signed him to their Practice Squad in October 2023 after the Steelers cut him. Gunner returned 23 punts for the Giants in 2023, averaging 11.9 yards per return, and scored on a 94-yard punt return. Overall, Olszewski has played in 65 regular-season games with four starts, catching 15 passes for 180 yards and one touchdown. Olszewski has returned 41 kickoffs for 904 yards (22.0 yards per return) and 98 punts for 1,170 yards (11.9 yards per return) and two touchdowns. Olszewski was named first-team All-Pro as a punt returner in 2020. However, he has 11 career fumbles.
