WR Jalin Hyatt (cramps) did not practice. “Cramped up (yesterday),” said Head Coach Brian Daboll. “Cramped up, a little tight in the lower body. We’ll hold him today.”
WR Wan’Dale Robinson and OLB Brian Burns collided during practice. Both walked off the field but were taken inside by trainers.
PRACTICE NOTES…
Some snippets from various media sources:
- Giants will not be in full pads until Monday. Today, they were in helmets, jerseys, and shells.
- The team worked outside of the red zone for the first time. There was an emphasis on short passes, including screen passes and check downs.
- LT Andrew Thomas, who remains on the PUP, was in uniform and performing in agility drills before practice.
- Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart split second-team reps at quarterback, with Winston getting the edge in snaps.
- Ihmir Smith-Marsette was the slot receiver after Wan’Dale Robinson left practice.
- Evan Neal continues to rotate with Greg Van Roten at first-team right guard.
- DL Roy Robertson-Harris has been receiving first-team reps next to NT Dexter Lawrence for the past two days.
- Cor’Dale Flott and Deonte Banks continue to split time with the first unit at cornerback.
- There were issues with three snaps involving OC John Michael Schmitz and QB Russell Wilson. One was too high, one went through the quarterback’s hands, and another seemed to surprise Wilson.
- Contrary to the first two practices, QB Russell Wilson did not get rid of the ball quickly and held the ball too long, running away from pressure.
- QB Jameis Winston had a strong practice, particularly in team drills.
- By most accounts, QB Jaxson Dart had his best practice, but still needs to get rid of the ball quicker.
- In 7-on-7 drills, QB Tommy DeVito threw a strike to WR Beaux Collins on a deep crossing pattern.
- Also in 7-on-7 drills, WR Jordan Bly made sliding, over-the-shoulder, sideline reception on a pass from QB Jameis Winston.
- In team drills, QB Russell Wilson connected on a deep 50-yard moon ball for a touchdown to WR Malik Nabers, beating CB Paulson Adebo, who fell on the play.
- CB Korie Black broke up a deep pass from QB Jaxson Dart to WR Da’Quan Felton.
- S Tyler Nubin broke up a couple of passes from QB Russell Wilson, including one to WR Wan’Dale Robinson that was almost a pick-6. The other was intended for WR Malik Nabers.
- CB Deonte Banks broke up a deep pass intended for WR Darius Slayton.
- CB Nic Jones and S Dane Belton got into the backfield on separate plays for “sacks.”
- For the second practice in a row, DL Elijah Garcia had a “sack.” He also stuffed a run in team drills.
- OLB Tomon Fox had another “sack.”
- OLB Kayvon Thibodeaux continues his strong early start with a “sack” and tackle for a loss.
- ILB Darius Muasau forced TE Thomas Fidone to fumble, but Fidone recovered the loose ball.
- On his last drive of practice, QB Russell Wilson did complete a 6-yard pass to WR Darius Slayton on 4th-and-5. But the drive ended with a high pass to WR Lil’Jordan Humphrey who could not make the catch with CB Andru Phillips in coverage.
- On his last drive of practice, QB Jameis Winston did a nice job of matriculating the ball down the field with quick passes until QB Jaxson Dart took over.
- On the final play of practice, on 3rd-and-goal from the 10-yard line, QB Jaxson Dart threw a pass into the end zone to RB Cam Skattebo for the score, beating ILB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles.
