The silver lining amidst the coaching collapse is how good Jaxson Dart is. Wonder:
- Giants set for the next 15 years if they don’t **** it up
- Pocket poise
- Dart was phenomenal against the blitz
- Calm at the end when Denver took the lead
- Made some mistakes but unbelievably savvy nearly the entire game
- Never stops looking downfield; the pass to a wide open Bellinger for a TD is great stuff
- Great on script and off script
- Not clear to me that he has a sophomore slump like other rookie phenoms.. because all of his intrinsic abilities are easy to replicate. He has an all around game. You can’t gameplan against his weaknesses because he doesn’t have weaknesses. They’ll study Dart in the offseason, but he doesn’t have tendencies. What Dart does is instinctive and natural. So you gameplan him and he’ll figure out what he needs to do in response.
- More impressive than Herbert was in his first year, and that’s saying something
- Only rookie QB that is in a rational discussion for a better freshman year is Jayden Daniels. Dart has staying power. He has qualities that are insane.
- Football intelligence.
- Third eye in the back of his head, feels the pocket.
- Unbelievable team leader, having only played 3-4 games. His teammates want to play for him. They want to bleed for him.
- Made a mistake (INT). Came back, even more fierce. Balls. In Denver. Nutso crowd. That’s stuff that almost no QB could do. Magnificent.
- Great build at 6’2” 223 lbs. Speed. Poise.
- Can be better than Daniels. Daniels needs a little more weight. Dart has a better sense of the pocket and what the Defense is doing. Dart has more intangibles. A little stronger arm.
- From Kurt Warner, throws a catchable ball.
- Everything he does, he makes it look easy.
- Tough, hangs in pocket, willing to take the hit to get the ball off.
- Has arm strength but steps into his throws. (Footwork is still a work in progress but he’ll get there.)
- Allows receivers to run under the ball. He has a veteran’s knowledge already.
- Excellent processing. And he’s only going to get better. Experience. He’s going to have muscle memory and brain memory. So the game is only going to slow down further. This is what took Josh Allen a while to do.
- BBB- he’s on time with the ball when he passes. For Wonder, being on time means control of the offense from the huddle all the way through to the reception. He’s not getting penalized for illegal motions, delay of games, setting the offense, and delivering the ball… another intangible.
He’s doing all of this without Nabers and legitimate wideouts. In 4 starts.
