NEW YORK GIANTS SELL MINORITY STAKE TO KOCH FAMILY…
If approved by the NFL, the New York Giants will have partial new owners soon. The Mara and Tisch families have sold a 10 percent minority stake in the team to the Koch family, headed by Julia Koch, for $10 billion. Julia Koch’s net-worth is speculated to be approximately $74 billion. Koch Industries is multi-billion dollar conglomerate involved in refining, chemicals, energy, and other sectors. The deal will likely be approved by the League at the October ownership meeting.
MIKE KAFKA WILL CALL THE PLAYS…
Head Coach Brian DabolI made it official on Thursday by stating that Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator Mike Kafka will return to calling offensive plays. Those duties had been removed from Kafka last year by Daboll, who called the plays himself. Kafka was the play-caller for the Giants in 2022 and 2023.
INJURY REPORT – ANDREW THOMAS SITS OUT…
LT Andrew Thomas (foot) was the only player on the 53-man roster who did not practice on Thursday. Thomas was limited in practice on Wednesday and Head Coach Brian Daboll said that despite performing well, the plan was to back off on Thursday. The Giants have one more practice on Friday in advance of Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders.
GIANTS RE-STRUCTURE CONTRACT OF ANDREW THOMAS…
In order to create much-needed salary cap space, the New York Giants have re-structured the contract of LT Andrew Thomas. The team was nearly $10 million over the salary cap and this re-structuring will reportedly create $12.5 million in cap space. Thomas has five years left on his current contract. He signed a 5-year, $117.5 million contract extension in 2023.
