Following a blowout loss against the New Orleans Saints, it might be time for the New York Giants to tank, but they could target wide receiver Chris Olave in a possible trade. According to a source, they predict the Saints will trade Olave to the Giants in exchange for wide receiver Darius Slayton. This trade makes sense for both teams as they’re both rebuilding a new roster at some capacity. Giant rookie Jaxson Dart is the future signal-caller for this offense after Russell Wilson lost his starting job since the 0-3 start.
With Olave, the Giants won’t be the only team that may target him, as he will probably receive interest from plenty of teams. Originally selected in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, the former Ohio State product came off a season-ending injury last season, but he still has a young career and can turn into a reliable offensive weapon even if it’s not with the Saints. New Orleans is slowly building a new regime after trading for DeVaughn Vele and claiming Trey Palmer off waivers, so Olave’s time might be coming to an end with the Saints. Meanwhile, the Giants are looking for a reset as well since they lost Malik Nabers to a season-ending injury this year.
This isn’t to say that Slayton isn’t a potential WR1, but the Giants would be better off building now and getting Olave under a new contract to give Dart some time to develop chemistry with him. However, these three teams will likely intervene and get Olave in a possible trade scenario.

Other Best Fits
Kansas City Chiefs
After a heartbreaking loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Kansas City Chiefs must do something to wake this offense up. Even though they need some running back, the same can be said about the wide receiver core group. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes isn’t the same MVP he once was and probably won’t be anymore, but if they trade for a high-level receiver again, similar to the DeAndre Hopkins acquisition last year, they should be able to find themselves at least making it to the AFC Championship Game in January.
Olave is easily a top 3 receiver in the league if used right. Mahomes would be able to get him in the right situation like he did with Tyquan Thornton. This gives Xavier Worthy some time to receive fewer snaps while he nurses his injury, and it would allow to give Rashee Rice more separation in the aerial attack when he returns from his suspension.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers need a wake-up call as well. They must put Justin Herbert in a winning situation, and while they did trade for Odafe Oweh to salvage the defense, they must have the same energy for the offense. The ground game needs a major upgrade, but they should still find a way to help Quentin Johnston. He hasn’t been the most consistent, even though he’s shown some flashes, but never enough to keep up with Ladd McConkey and Keenan Allen.
Olave joining the Chargers gives them another high-level option to lean on to turn into a long-term offensive weapon.
Dallas Cowboys
Jerry Jones continues to tease that he will use the extra first-round picks on a player during the season. What if it ends up being another wide receiver? They need more defensive playmakers, but Olave’s presence in this offense that’s already on fire between George Pickens, Ryan Flournoy and a returning CeeDee Lamb and KaVontae Turpin. Imagine Pickens, Olave and Lamb on one team, which would be truly a loaded offense for Prescott.
